Epic Flight Academy signs deal for up to 50 new Pipistrel Voyager trainers

The agreement also includes options for 20 additional aircraft in 2028 and another 20 in 2029.

Epic Flight Academy has signed a purchase agreement for up to 50 Pipistrel Voyager aircraft, making the Florida-based flight school the launch customer for the next-generation trainer.

Announced today at the EAA AirVenture 2026 aviation convention by Pipistrel – a Textron Inc. company – the deal locks in an initial delivery of 10 aircraft starting in 2027.

The agreement also includes options for 20 additional aircraft in 2028 and another 20 in 2029 to support Epic’s expanding fleet and growing student pilot demand.

The new two-seat Voyager fleet will supplement Epic’s existing lineup of 70 training aircraft, which primarily consists of standard Cessna Skyhawks. According to leadership from both companies, the acquisition is designed to rapidly scale up training capacity while introducing a highly efficient platform to the academy’s multi-location U.S. operations, which span both FAA Part 141 and Part 61 pilot training programs.

A major driver behind the aircraft’s development and adoption is its alignment with emerging Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) regulations.

Powered by a Rotax 912 ULS engine, the Voyager boasts a 740-nautical-mile range alongside a streamlined design tailored to drop direct operating costs for flight schools.
