Mandarin orders six ATR72-600s

Mandarin Airlines, a Taiwan subsidiary of China Airlines, has signed an agreement for six ATR72-600s with the aircraft manufacture.

The order is valued around $160 million based on list prices. The aircraft will operate on domestic routes in Taiwan.

The contract signed also says ATR will provide engineering and technical support for China Airline subsidiaries and  set-up in house ATR heavy maintenance capabilities.

Christian Scherer, CEO of ATR said: “We are honored by the decision of China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines, who have conducted a very thorough and comprehensive evaluation of alternatives for their regional network in Taiwan. The outcome proves once again that when assessed competitively, the ATR 72-600 logically prevails in the eyes of the most discerning airlines. We look forward to our partnership with Mandarin, and to supporting a stellar operation.”
