BOC orders four B787-9s, leases to Air Europa

BOC Aviation has placed its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner order, purchasing four new aircraft at a list price of an estimated $1.05 billion.

The aircraft will be leased to Spanish airline Air Europa, set to deliver in 2019.

Robert Martin, managing director and CEO of BOC Aviation said: “We are pleased to begin a partnership with Air Europa, a new European customer, and to support its fleet growth and expansion plans.”

Air Europa plans to grow its 787 operations substantially over the next five years, looking to grow its fleet from eight 787s  to 24 by 2022.

“Air Europa is very pleased with the closing of its first deal with BOC Aviation and looks forward to a successful, long-term relationship between our two companies,” said a spokesperson for the airline.
