ALC finalises $348 million engine order

Air Lease Corporation has finalised a $348 million order extension for 24 CFM International LEAP-1B engines.

The engines will power 12 new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, including five 737 MAX 7 and seven MAX 8 aircraft. The engines are expected to be delivered at 2022.

This order is an extension on a 40-engine LEAP-1B order made in 2014.

John L. Plueger, ALC’s chief executive officer and president, said: “The LEAP-1B-powered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is a key element in our portfolio. These advanced technology engines are delivering 15 percent better fuel efficiency and world-class reliability, both of which are paramount to the operational stability and success of our airline customers.”

The LEAP engines are in service with 18 different customers operating 85 different aircraft. The entire engine fleet has logged approximately 200,000 hours and 100,000 cycles.
